In essence, Elcan DigitalHunter is a high-quality optical element and a digital photo and video camera at the same time. The main, but not the only advantage of this device is the wide possibilities for recording video clips and regular photos during hunting (and at any time interval required by the user - before, during, after the shot, etc.)
The ability to load different types of sighting marks into the scope and then select the desired mark for a specific situation (for example, a weapon can be aimed with different marks at different distances, different marks can be used for cartridges with different bullet weights, or for different weather conditions, for several types of weapons, etc.). But that's not all. The results of the weapon aiming together with the correction ballistic tables can be entered into the scope's memory (on an SD card) and then, before responsible shooting, it is enough to enter the distance to the target using the control panel, and the software will calculate and make the necessary corrections. The scope has a digital zoom from 2.5 to 16.5 times, and with an increase in the magnification, the aiming point does not shift, as in optical sights, and the expansion when the field of view narrows also remains practically unchanged. In addition, unlike classic optical sights, with an increase in the magnification, the removal of the exit pupil in the DigitalHunter remains unchanged.
All functions of the Elcan DigitalHunter are controlled digitally — the control buttons and color display are conveniently located on the top panel of the sight body. All this allows you to clearly select and set the necessary modes of operation of the sight, enter corrections, etc. Video or photo recording can be carried out automatically or manually. You can program the DigitalHunter in such a way that a 10-second video fragment will be recorded and saved to an SD memory card at the moment of the shot or when the hunter presses the corresponding button. The recording of this video can be configured so that it includes from 1 to 5 seconds before the shot. Immediately after the shot, you can view the photos or video taken on the sight display and evaluate the shooting results. The presence of a USB port allows not only to conveniently transfer photos and videos to a computer, but also provides additional conveniences for working with the software — for example, the ability to add your own marks, download ballistic information, etc. Well, for the complete set, Elcan DigitalHunter has a video output, with which you can display a video image in real time on an external monitor. This makes it possible to observe what the shooter sees through the sight. This function can be very useful for training shooters or at competitions. Also, the sight has the ability to be powered not only by standard AA batteries, but also by an external 12V power source (included in the delivery set). The sight is mounted on standard "Picatinny" and "Weaver" rails.
