With the introduction of its line of .457-cal Texan PCP air rifles that use 475cc carbon-fiber air bottles, AirForce Airguns has lightened up each of the rifles in the Texan line by about 20 percent. These tanks also feature AirForce's upgraded TX2 valve which, according to the manufacturer "increases efficiency and power to the next level," giving this new breed of Texan unprecedented power. While the standard, aluminum bottles' maximum fill pressure tops out at 200 BAR (roughly 2900 psi,) the CF bottles' 250-BAR (3626 psi) max fill pressure produce muzzle energies over 700 fpe in the Texan and Texan LSS and up to 600 fpe in the Texan Carbine and SS models.
So, if you are the owner of a Texan that sports an aluminum bottle, all you need is this carbon-fiber version with its Spin-Loc attachment technology to upgrade your gun and increase its power* while losing a little weight. Or, if you already own a CF-bottle Texan, it's always a good idea to pick up a spare for those long days in the field.
